Please read this Medical Disclaimer carefully before using the UV Index app ("UV Index," "the app").

Not medical advice

UV Index is an informational sun-awareness tool. It provides UV guidance, burn-risk estimates, lower-risk windows, a sun-session timer, exposure history, widgets, and reminders for general informational purposes only. UV Index is not a medical device and does not provide medical, dermatological, or other professional health advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Nothing in the app is a substitute for professional medical advice. Always seek the guidance of a qualified health provider with any questions about sun exposure, skin health, skin cancer risk, vitamin D, or any medical condition. Never disregard or delay professional medical advice because of something you read or saw in UV Index.

No "safe" sun exposure or tanning claims

UV Index does not claim that any level of sun exposure or tanning is "safe." All UV exposure carries risk. UV Index's estimates are intended to help you be more aware of burn risk and to plan lower-risk times — not to encourage sun exposure or tanning, and not to promise protection.

No guarantee of outcomes

UV Index does not guarantee the prevention of sunburn, skin damage, premature aging, skin cancer, or any other health outcome. Burn-risk estimates, timers, and lower-risk windows are approximations based on your inputs and third-party data, and individual results vary.

Data may be inaccurate

UV and weather information comes from third-party providers (including Open-Meteo) and may be delayed, estimated, incomplete, unavailable, or inaccurate. Do not rely on UV Index as your only source for sun-exposure decisions.

Your responsibility

You are solely responsible for your sun-protection decisions, including using sunscreen, protective clothing, and shade, and limiting time in the sun. Follow the recommendations of qualified professionals and official public-health authorities.

If you are at higher risk

If you have a history of skin cancer, a photosensitizing condition, take medications that increase sun sensitivity, or have any concern about your skin, consult a qualified health professional before relying on any sun-awareness tool, including UV Index.

Emergencies

UV Index is not for emergencies. If you have a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately.
